Det stora och mäktiga landet Kina ((strong, powerful; Best form))
ska få en ny ledare. I nästa vecka
tar Xi Jinping över makten ((power))
efter Hu Jintao.

Vad det betyder är osäkert.
En del hoppas på att Kina ska bli (mindre bit av en helhet)
mer demokratiskt och fritt.
Men experterna
tror inte att den nya ledaren
tänker börja med det.
Kina har andra problem
som ledarna tycker är **viktig**are.

• Violent clashes are continuing in Cairo as supporters of the Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, lay siege to Tahrir Square, where thousands of anti-government protesters have been demanding he step down immediately.
• The two sides have been throwing stones and petrol bombs at each other, and fighting with sticks and iron bars. Officials say three people were killed and more than 600 injured.
• The leading opposition figure, Mohamed ElBaradei, has condemned the attacks on protesters as a criminal act by a criminal regime. He is reported to have called on the army to intervene.
• The White House has deplored the violence and called for restraint. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said attacks on peaceful demonstrators are unacceptable.
• The army has called on all protesters to return home and allow Egypt to return to normal.
